Since arriving in India we have come to realise that we aren’t really that good at the actual “travelling” part of travelling. Setting up camp for a couple of weeks in each special place we come across means that we can find peace and comfort amongst the chaos. We arrived in Rishikesh – Laxman Jhula – at about 10:30 at night. Everything was very quiet. It was so serene. Crossing the Ganges by a wire suspension foot bridge we found the hotel we were aiming for amongst the alleyways and closed stalls. The Ganga View Hotel didn’t actually have any views over the Ganga (Ganges) river but was welcoming, clean and very cheap. We arrived in Delhi at 02:20 on the day of Mahatma Ghandi’s birthday. We had booked the Vivek Hotel to come and pick us up from the airport as we’d heard of scams and arrived at 3:00am. However, there was no-one to meet us amid the chaos outside arrivals and we had no way of contacting the hotel. The army officers stationed at the airport took some convincing to let us back into the arrivals lounge to purchase a pre-paid taxi ticket so we could get to the hotel. Hello from Venice! This is one of the most unique and beautiful cities we’ve visited so far. Also one of the most expensive! Don’t go to Venice without some extra money saved up. The Architecture is magnificent and the waterways not only make the place one of a kind, but free the city from cars and traffic filled roads – this is the best thing about Venice. It’s our last night in Verona, northern Italy. Been chilling out at a campsite here for three days. Right in the middle of the city with a beautiful view of the old part of town and the river. Verona is nice, it’s laid back and the campsite has everything we need. The architecture is beautiful and the view from our tent is picturesque.
