These responsive websites were completely hand-coded from scratch to the clients exact specifications. I worked in-office for the duration of the project using designs supplied by the companies regular graphic designer. The website provides a catalogue for the companies entire product range as well as point of call for online help, support, information, queries and customer service. It spans two domains as a different Google ad campaign is run for one product line out to the three on offer.
After producing wire frames and discussing content, Petersen Stainless supplied me with branded graphic designs of the home page, category page and product details page without mobile variations. I used the three designs and the existing branding to create all of the page designs at different sizes – Mobile devices, tablets, laptops and desktops. Following googles recommendations for serving up the same content for every device the design is truly responsive loading exactly the same HTML file no matter what device is being used to view the page.
It doesn’t use a CMS and instead is designed using Dreamweaver templates and library items to quickly update or edit parts of the site.
Search Engine Optimisation
SEO was a big part of this project. The entire site was carefully marked up using Google Rich Snippets from Schema.org as well as using standards compliant code. The result was a 50% increase in traffic to the site.
